(1) In the Winter Season, the rainfall from January 1, 2008 to January 28, 2008 was normal/excess in 1 meteorological sub -divisions (3 per cent) and deficient/scanty in the remaining 35 (97 per cent).

(2) Wheat procurement as on November 30, 2008 (in the year 2008-09) was at 22.68 million tonnes as compared to 11.13 million tonnes (increased by 103.77 per cent) in the corresponding period of last year. While, procurement of rice as on November 30, 2008 stood at 11.20 million tonnes as compared to 9.01 million tonnes (increased by 24.31 per cent) in the corresponding period of last year.
