The monthly growth achieved in December 2008 by the mining, manufacturing and electricity sector was 1.0 per cent, -2.5 per cent and 1.6 per cent respectively as compared to 5.0 per cent, 8.6 per cent and 3.8 per cent during the corresponding month of last year. The revised annual growth achieved by the mining, manufacturing and electricity sectors during April- December, 2008-09 was 3.0 per cent, 3.3 per cent and 2.7 per cent respectively as
compared to 5.2 per cent, 9.6 per cent and 6.6 per cent during the corresponding period of last year.
As per the use-based classification, Basic goods, capital goods showed significantly lower growth during December, 2008 compared to corresponding period in the previous year. Growth in intermediate goods turned negative in December 2008.
